Exercise Can Treat Depression

We often feel down,overwhelmed with life, sad, anxious, worthless, hopeless. We feel that there could have been a lot of things we could have done until this moment, and we suddenly realize we didn’t do anything of what we dreamed of.

Reasons behind the feeling of depression

Most of the times we can give the right reasons for why we feel a certain way. We either feel that we didn’t accomplish anything in life up till this point, or we feel that we don’t matter to anyone, we don’t feel loved or important, that we aren’t good looking enough, sometimes even monstruous.

But what if I tell you that the perception and reality of what is happening to us is due to misconceptions that were probably ingrained in us at some point in our lives. These feelings of depression are entertained by the most powerful organ of our body, the brain. The brain is home to the hypothalamus which regulates all the hormones for feeling different ways (either depression: cortisol, adrenaline or happiness: dopamine, serotonin).

What if I tell you there is a solution for depression

Would you believe me? How it would be if we could control the hormonal regulation and instead of bad hormones we stimulate de secretion of good ones, the endorphins, dopamine and serotonin, hormones of happiness.

Imagine how it would be if, even if you are in fact “stupid”, or “ugly” or outsider “or “weird” or “looser” or “not loved“, you would still get a big and powerful sense of worth, energy, hunger for doing something despite anything you are going through. How would this look to you? Just imagine…. Just take a moment…. Wouldn’t be different? I say we should try…together…and start today. It is proven scientifically that there is in fact a solution for this state of mind that gives you a boost of endorphins that is responsible for energy, desire, motivation and love for life. It is called EXERCISING.

I recommend to first start with classes to learn how exercises are done and to share the same scope, spirit of joy and fun workout with other people. Any kind of activity that really increase your heart rate and make your muscles work: aerobics, cycling, lifting weights, running, hiking, swimming, dancing.
